Wondering if you may qualify for a discounted bus fare? See below to discover if you are eligible for free or reduced fare.
Half Fare Program
Passengers with a disability, as defined by the Americans with Disabilities Act, may be entitled to a Pennsylvania Reduced Fare. A Medicare card with photo ID is sufficient proof for eligibility when boarding the bus for the Federal Half Fare program. If you do not possess a Medicare card, you may provide documentation of your disability from a licensed physician to the SVSS office and a Reduced Fare Transit Identification Card will be issued to you.
The Half Fare program does not apply to passes for the fixed route service.
Senior Free Fare Program
Passengers 65 years of age or older ride free on the SVSS Fixed Route bus system. To be eligible for the Free Fare program, passengers must register with SVSS to obtain a Commonwealth of Pennsylvania Senior Fare Card. To receive the Free Fare ID Card, passengers must bring approved proof of age to the SVSS office. An application will be completed and the ID card will be issued. Photocopies of the appropriate proof of age may also be mailed with an application in order to receive the ID card.
The following are Pennsylvania's approved proof of age documents: Birth Certificate, Baptismal Certificate, Naturalization Papers, Passport, Statement from Social Security Administration, Armed Forces Discharge/Separation Papers, Pennsylvania Identification Card, Photo Motor Vehicle Operator's License, Resident Alien Card, PACE Card, or Veteran's Universal Access Identification Card.
